The Arveda Alzheimer's communities have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the residents, from the layout of the home, to the design of the bedrooms, to the selection of the decor. Our
communities are Alzheimer's Certified
and considered a 'social model' of care instead of a 'medical model'
of care.
Arveda Alzheimer's communities are
also
ADA compliant,
barrier free, and completely covered with a monitored sprinkler system
and 24-hour fire system. Additionally, we offer security safety cameras that
are located in residence public areas and our backyard patio and garden
areas.
Arveda is proud to announce that our
facilities are the first in Austin to implement the award-winning Vigil
Dementia System.
The Vigil
Dementia System was designed by caregivers
specifically to aid in the care of residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms
of dementia. Residents with dementia are prone to memory loss, making it
difficult for them to utilize a traditional nurse call system. The resident
will often forget entirely what the call button is for and therefore cannot
call for help.
The Vigil Dementia System, a sophisticated computer
software system, detects by non-invasive sensors a bed exit, incontinence sensor,
and motion sensor. The Vigil System transmits this information to the computer,
which generates an audible alert that the resident needs assistance when they
are unable to do so. This enables the staff to provide care when and where it
is needed, while minimizing unnecessary interventions.
The result is an increase in residents’ privacy
while maintaining their safety.
By reviewing the data that the Vigil Dementia System
gathers and stores in the resident’s chart, the staff can anticipate when to get
the resident up for a bathroom visit, which minimizes incontinent episodes and
sometimes will help the resident gain more control over their incontinence.
The resident’s doctor can review the data, noting
when the patient is restless or attempting to get out of bed. If the resident
is on sleep medication, the doctor may note the poor sleep pattern and adjust
the medication accordingly.
This sensor also alerts the caregiver to check on
the resident, making sure they get back in bed safely, greatly reducing the
risk of
falls and other injuries.
Our
facility staff receive intensive training on Alzheimer's disease and the way it affects the residents' language ability, vision, behavior, and ability to take care of themselves. Our specialized staff members are selected not only for their technical skills and knowledge of how to provide personal care, but also for their ability to communicate well.
Arveda strives to have the best care possible for people who
have Alzheimer's or related dementia's and to be a leader in the
community. Residents will enjoy furnished private rooms in

FAMILIES
WELCOMED!
The families of the residents are welcomed and strongly
encouraged to take an active role in the development of the service plan. We fully understand that the families know
their loved ones the best. Our staff will coach, guide, and use demonstration
with the residents to help them remain as active and independent as possible
for as long as possible.
We welcome feedback from our families, as well as, our
residents. You have our commitment to
follow up with you regarding any of your requests or needs.
STEPS
TO BECOMING A RESIDENT
The first step to becoming a resident of an Arveda community is to visit and meet
the staff. We ask that you schedule an appointment for a tour. This will ensure that the staff is available
as long as you need them, to answer questions you may have about the services
provided to you and your loved one.
Also, our communities are very small and the residents who
reside there find it difficult if too many new “faces” are introduced into their
home throughout the day. However, appointments
to tour the general assisted living communities are not required, only
encouraged.
ABOUT
ARVEDA
The management and design team have many years of experience providing the specialized care that Alzheimer's residents require. Living Residences are managed and operated by Tree of Life Care Group. Although Arveda
communities are new, the management staff has a combined total of over 30
years of experience in the healthcare industry providing personal care to
senior citizens, with many of those solely focused on Alzheimer’s care.
